The Vegas Pro

Spent a great afternoon a couple of Sunday's ago in Las Vegas with JD. I was out there for a client conference and had a free afternoon, so Jumpin' Joe the Vegas Pro picked me up at the airport and we headed over to a sports bar/restaurant to watch the final round of the Masters together and do some serious catching up. I think we determined we hadn't seen each other since roughly 1974 or thereabouts.

JD has been in Las Vegas for several years, and after a stint with an internet start-up is back in the gaming business as an Assistant Casino Manager at Caesar's Palace. Works the 8 pm to 3 am shift with Mondays and Tuesdays off, so looks like he has the most important slot.
.
As the attached picture will show, he's still in great shape. Gave up drinking years ago (hey, we have a designated driver when we're in Vegas!) and doesn't eat any red meat. Surely he has a vice somewhere, but other than golf I couldn't find it. He sends his regards to all the AZ brothers and committed to get to our next reunion. Hopefully he'll make it to Colorado later this summer for some mile-hi golf.

Denver Boone in Stripes

The question: "Wow, do you have to go to some sort of referee school and do you have to buy your own uniforms? ~Art

The response: "The complete unifrom arrived today. Not only the clothes, but the flags, scorecards, and the 20 second timer for advancing the ball out of your defensive end, and of course a loud whistle that goes on your knuckles. Must wear Under Armour black T shirt under the stripes and white compression shorts under the white shorts. In 2 of the games I am reffing with friends, but in the 3rd game I am with the head of all the refs in western Florida. Lots of pressure on what his evaluation will be. So many potential scenarios that can occur. I will look the part and look mahvelous." ~Doug

2009 Reunion BO2

Arrived in Denver to a foot of snow. Found Ely on my flight and we hoofed it over to the next gate where TB landed ten minutes later. Rented a car and we were at The Retreat, brother Lowe's establishment in no time to congregate with the boyz (and girls).
