Family photo ( sort of). Tailgating before the North Carolina State ve Georgia Tech game. Court and her husband flew back for the game which tied in with a baby shower for Courtney. Sue skipped the game to go shopping. Middy drove down Saturday morning and I arrived Friday.

Thanks for your updates! I'm keeping a low profile these days, but wanted to let you know I enjoy hearing about what's going on. As for the renovations at the House, it's my understanding the University is taking it over as administrative offices. The fund raising efforts came up short....unless there's been a major turn of events over the last two or three months. At least the house will be brought back to a stately condition.

A Hopeful Return of Alpha Zeta

Judd took these pics while he was visiting in Denver this week. Apparently the AZ brothers will be back in business - and that old graceful brick Tudor that we once called home will be refurbished. If only the view of Mt. Evans could be restored.

Judd and Becky stopped in Mile High on their way back from visiting one daughter in Austin, TX to see daughter no. 2 Anne - who calls Denver home. As usual Randy joined in the evening gala.

Dury the Man

I decided in June to get out of the wholesale lumber business. I had been in it for some 35+ years and the lumber business, as you might well imagine, is all but "gone" with no construction or remodeling going on (at least not here in the western states). Wholesale lumber companies, as well as construction companies are dropping like flies out here and it isn't going to turn around anytime soon.

I have been a Reserve Police Officer for 33 years and I decided to take the experience I've gained there and start a security company. I've been working on getting it up and running for 9 months now and it hasn't been a cake walk. I had to study for and take a state exam to qualify to operate a security company, set up an LLC, only to be told for legal reasons, it had to be a Corp. That took another 8 weeks out of my time schedule. Now I'm ready to go; I only need some good clients and that is proving to be much more difficult than I anticipated. But God willing, I'll get this thing off the ground and we'll be into another career when I should be looking at retirement. Oh well... I guess it's far better to stay busy than to sit on my ass.

I'll include a couple of pictures. One in my earlier years as a mounted Deputy Sheriff and another just taken this last St. Patty's Day - a week and a half ago. Seal Beach is a hot spot for St. Patty's partying, having six Irish bars within a two block area and two large colleges (Long Beach State - with over 40,000 students, The Orange Coast Colleges - with over 30,000 students), and a U.S. Naval Base with "I don't know how many drunken sailors and marines", Seal Beach is a busy place on St. Patty's Day, and during all of the summer months, so it's been fun.

The picture by the patrol unit is just after I had made a DUI arrest. These are just tid bits of what one of the brothers does as a "hobby-of-sorts" (aside from the Sailing).

Oh yes, and I finished writing a book; "The Object of Evil". Available at Amazon. Took me a while to write, but it too was an experience of a lifetime. Mostly good reviews, but I think it was a bit "wordy". If I write a second one, it won't be as long.

Brother Steinhart Reports Eagle Sighting

Steve Steinhart is alive and well as evidenced here. "I am the chair of the Hospitality Committee for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. We raised 20,000,000 meals last year. I'm pictured with the Boston College Cheerleaders at the Pep Rally at Union Square in San Francisco. BC Played USC in 2010."

Coach Hirsh

Brother Hirsh is an assistant coach for the Washington & Lee Lacrosse team which boasts a respectable 6-4 record halfway through the 2011 season. The Generals play in the highly competetive Old Dominion Athletic Conference of Div. III Virginia Schools. My guess is that the team gets a little extra team spirit from Denver Boone's sidelines presence.
